Peregrine Energy Solutions Holds Open House Showcasing Safe, Reliable Energy Storage Project for League City

LEAGUE CITY, TX–Peregrine Energy Solutions (Peregrine) held an open house last week to invite feedback from residents, local leaders, and the entire community and to share details regarding the Wizard Energy Storage System, a 150-megawatt project to be sited in the Industrial Zone of League City.

“It’s encouraging to see a company with interest in League City hold an event that offers our community transparency into their plans and an opportunity to make their voices heard,” said Councilman Sean Saunders, who attended Thursday’s event.

Informational booths accompanied by Peregrine’s experts were on display throughout the day and featured topics ranging from technology and safety to community benefits, the project’s permitting process, and more.

“We felt it was important to create a welcoming environment that invited community members to speak freely about any questions, concerns, or hopes they had for the Wizard project,” said Kevin Conger, Peregrine’s lead developer.

I found the event to be extremely informative and well-attended,” said Laura Teatsworth, Chairperson of League City HOA Alliance. “Peregrine’s employees really took the time to listen and answer questions.”

All energy storage projects must meet rigorous codes and standards to be permitted to operate, and Peregrine’s standards exceed industry, government, and fire safety requirements in multiple key aspects. The Wizard facility utilizes American software and its technology touts unparalleled, flawless safety records.

“We use batteries every day, from our mobile phones and laptops to electric vehicles and toothbrushes, and the same technology that powers our personal devices can power our communities,” said Conger. “There are a lot of misconceptions about energy storage projects, so explaining the leading technology Peregrine uses along with our commitment to safety was paramount.”

Before the permitting process takes place, League City will first develop an energy storage ordinance.

“We believe it’s important to engage the community before these processes take place, and we will continue to be an active community partner throughout the life of the project,” said Conger. “Proper zoning and permitting for energy storage systems that protect residents while also allowing for reasonable projects to be built will ensure communities like League City can safely benefit from the many advantages brought by these projects.”

Beyond providing power to homes and businesses, limiting power outages, and making Texas’ electric grid more stable with reliable, affordable energy, these projects also offer economic benefits by way of tremendous tax dollars that go towards roads, schools and first responders.
